Tiger Rag
Tiger Rag contains some of Jo Ann Castle's
all-time favorite honky-tonk and ragtime numbers played on her 19th Century
piano.
Liner Notes
The wild piano of Jo Ann Castle has ranged far and
wide over the musical jungle of show business. Starting at the tender but
tuneful age of 7, she studied classical, moving inot popular melodies.
Then at the august age of 8, she played for the pleasure of her parents and
others at banquets, etc. Strangely though, it was as an accordionist that
she first entered professional show business on the Tex Williams Radio Show in
Hollywood at the venerable age of 15.
A guest shot appearance on the Lawrence Welk Show
with her honky-tonk piano started her popularity ball rolling. In August
of 1959, she was signed as a regular on the coast-to-coast hookup of the pupular
Lawrence Welk TV Show. Her battered upright is now known to millions of
viewer fans who know that her honky-tonk way with a melody is fantastic.
To keep at her pinnacle of success, this talented
beauty practices an average of 2 to 3 hours daily, a necessity when you hear
those ragtime rhythms she runs through so effortlessly.
Her honky-tonk fans will go wild with her
rendition of the title tune of this album "Tiger Rag!" Tap your
toes and smile along as Jo Ann castle tickles the ivories to produce the
happiest honky-tonk you'll ever hear!
