Harbor Lights

Words and music by Hugh Williams and Jimmy Kennedy

I saw the harbor lights
They only told me we were parting
The same old harbor lights that once brought you to me
I watched the harbor lights
How could I help if tears were starting
Goodbye to tender nights beside the silv’ry sea

I long to hold you near and kiss you just once more
But you were on the ship and I was on the shore
Now I know lonely nights
For all the while my heart is whisp’ring
Some other harbor lights will steal your love from me

I long to hold you near and kiss you just once more
But you were on the ship and I was on the shore

Now I know lonely nights
For all the while my heart is whisp’ring
Some other harbor lights will steal your love from me

I'm looking over a four-leaf clover
That I overlooked before.
One leaf is sunshine, the second is rain,
Third is the roses that grow in the lane.
No need explaining, the one remaining
Is somebody I adore.
I'm looking over a four-leaf clover
That I overlooked before

Hukilau Song

Words and Music by Jack Owens (1948)

Jack Owens wrote this song after attending a hukilau in 1948 to raise funds for the rebuilding of a Mormon Chapel that had burned down. That night, suffering sunburn, aches and pains, he was inspired to write this song. The song was introduced publicly at a Methodist lu'au in Honolulu and became an instant hit.

Oh we''re going to a hukilau
A huki huki huki huki hukilau
Everybody loves the hukilau
Where the laulau is the kaukau at the luau

We throw our nets out into the sea
And all the amaama come a swimming to me
Oh, we''re going to a hukilau
A huki huki huki hukilau

What a beautiful day for fishing
That old Hawaiian way
Where the hukilau nets are swishing
Down in old Laie bay
